A Captain’s Plea

  • Post author:

wind lacerates the sails

waves roll into the oak

Tumbling, colliding, punishing the ship.

The hull shows its belly and dips,

Pulling and pushing

Testing the will,

its nature versus man.

Give us mercy the captain shouts,

The waves crack louder.

The gods laugh with amusement.

The captain takes the wheel,

And turns into the storm.

The bow lifts and crashes

The sail undresses the ship.

At the top of his lungs,

Live or die, we charge into the belly of the beast,

For even the god’s refuse to save us.
